Hey Veggie, great reaction! I'm watching along with you and I don't think we're supposed to have picked up on what exactly is going on...or at least I haven't either, so you're not alone at any rate.šš On the ending: I agree that Giles souldn't be able to get out of that situation. But since they cut away before it actually happened I'm like 99% sure that the writers just wanted to have a cool cliffhanger and he'll be completely fine.š Though if the first thing we'll get to see next episode is Giles being decapitated I'll admit I'd be very impressed with the guts of the show and the way they played on my expectations based on other media!šÆ

Just a funny line, thatās all! Great reaction, youāre about as confused as I was on first watch so I think youāre doing fine! š

There is a rewatch bonus (or rather, a memory bonus) to the villain, but it's nothing important. Just try and enjoy the season for what it is :)

2026-02-08 22:01:11 +0000 UTCPersonally I think it would be best to keep removing the "Previously on", if it's not too much work- I wouldn't have remembered Giles was back if it weren't for Toe-knee-Head saying that in the intro, before you started talking. P.S. Mystery Inc is the name of the team, the Mystery Machine is the name of the van, and the Scooby Gang/Scoobies/Slayerettes is Team Buffy :D

2026-02-08 21:06:28 +0000 UTCAmazing detail! Thanks Elizabeth! Though I found the scene extremely creepy (heck, I actually thought Buff could get turned), my only cultural connection to the song being Frank Spencer singing it probably didn't have the same gravitas as intended! XD Thank for the info!!

2026-02-08 20:39:47 +0000 UTCThe hand in the opening credits is from Season 6, āLife Serial,ā when Buffy is stuck in a time loop with a lady wanting to buy that mummy hand from The Magic Box. :) The folk song āEarly One Morningā was also the theme music for a childrenās television show āThe Friendly Giantā (no relation to the Roald Dahl novel āThe Big Friendly Giantā), originally created in the US in 1954 and then produced in Canada from 1958 to 1985ā¦. So, using that song added an extra layer of creepiness for some fans by hitting us in our childhood memories, LOL.

2026-02-08 20:33:00 +0000 UTC11 episodes left? Are you stopping early? (Iām kidding, I know you probably typed the wrong number) I think leaving the āpreviously onā in would be best because you might say something during it. The singer is Aimee Mann. I know her from the soundtrack to āMagnoliaā. Donāt worry. You havenāt missed anything as far as Iām aware. You should be feeling in the dark with what is going on.

2026-02-08 20:29:40 +0000 UTCThanks for the reaction, Veggie! The singer in The Bronze with the striking eyes is Oscar-nominated and Grammy-nominated Aimee Mann. I think they just wanted to give her a funny line with the "I hate playing vampire towns" thing, as she was a pretty big name at the time. And the actor that played Jonathan is alive and well and has had a very successful behind the scenes career in Hollywood. Most recently he wrote the new script for the 2025 Broadway revival of the musical Chess. This is a bizarre episode, and yeah, I don't think you're meant to fully know what's going on yet so don't worry. It's nice I suppose that Buffy still has some trust in Spike after all she's been through with him. Not sure I would have been able to be that forgiving after being trapped and surrounded by like 10 vampires, but I guess that's why she's our heroine. The scene with Anya and Spike was pretty funny, though!
